Keeping with the times

This is the last month of 2011, there are a lot of things changing as far as technology is concerned.

  • Twitter is changing to catch up with (and beat) Facebook
  • Youtube is changing the way they look and operate.
  • Facebook is rolling out its timeline after an overhaul.
  • Google+ is finding its groove

And these are just the social media companies.

The big thing about these companies is that they represent how we communicate.  I can only think of 3 people that I know who don’t have a facebook and one of them is three!

The way we communicate is important to our business, but also to our lives.  If we look back just ten years, we will see that communication has come a long way.  And if we look ahead ten years, we will see how far we have come.

With all this being said, there are some rules that will remain the same:

  • Be honest and sincere.  People want to trust you.
  • Share interesting things.  People want to connect.
  • Listen. People want to be heard.

That is about as simple as I can state it.  Follow these rules and no matter what changes, you will communicate clearly and effeciently.
